Hello! I am a freelance writer and photographer specializing
in the Green movement,
nature, wildlife, the environment and both humorous
and inspirational human interest topics. My articles
and photographs have appeared in many
publications including Florida
Gardening, Florida Sportsman, E - The Environmental
Magazine, BassTimes, Spirituality and Health, Florida
Wildlife, South Carolina Wildlife, Spaces
and others.
I'm an avid environmentalist and a complete
critter loving nature nerd, working hard to educate
and encourage others to stop and look and appreciate
the wonders around them and then learn how to Take Care
of Their Share of the planet.
My motto: "I don't just hug trees.
I fondle flowers and caress critters and play in the
dirt!"
Green
Builder Services
One of my new services is working
with builders to educate their customers about GreenBuilding and it's benefits to both the homeowner
and the environment. I create Green Homeowner's Manuals and Educational Materials that
are necessary to help teach customers how to operate
their new home and take care of the landscape. In addition,
I can help you setup your model or showcase homes to
help educate visitors about the home's Greenaspects. Since my primary focus, for many years,
has been teaching people how to Take
Care of Their Share of the environment, this is
the perfect niche for me and I am thrilled to be able
to assist builders with their Green
building projects.
I also provide personal consultations and
assistance for creating wildlife friendly (bird and
butterfly) gardens and landscapes; create brochures
and materials for businesses to help educate their customers
or clients about ways to protect the local environment;
provide wildlife-friendly home staging and give seminars.
Background
Prior to dedicating my time to freelance writing and
photography, my work background included ten years working
at a public library, which provided me invaluable research
skills; and ten years in the computer support department
of a large local electronics firm, which helped improve
both my people and problem solving skills.
I have also attended the Florida Master Gardener training
and I am a trained National Wildlife Federation Habitat
Steward.
Other projects
I maintain several websites to try to help educate
and encourage others to appreciate and protect
the natural world around them. Two of the most
popular of those sites are Project
Backyard Brevard, which was created to help
preserve the beauty of the county in which I live,
and Take
Care of Your Share, which was created to help
preserve the beauty of the rest of the world.
Please contact me to discuss how I can help your
publication or organization in promoting the appreciation
of nature. For your immediate needs, I have photographs
and articles on many topics. Or I will be happy
to create something for your specific needs.
