Backyard Brevard - Dedicated to Preserving the
Beauty of Brevard County, Florida...One Backyard
at a Time
In 2003, while doing research to give training
for the National Wildlife Federation Habitat Steward
program, I realized how difficult it was to locate
information about creating wildlife habitat. Since
I was researching and collecting much of the information
anyway, I decided that I might as well pull the
information together into an easy to use website.
The website "was created as a means to encourage
each citizen of Brevard County to take responsibility
for their own piece of the local environment…their
own homes and yards. It's aim is to provide information
to all residents, old and new alike, about what
they can do as individuals to help protect the
wildlife and natural habitat that make Brevard
so special and unique. By focusing on their own
piece of property, each citizen can make a difference
in habitat preservation throughout the county."

I thought this was a great idea and I do occasionally
still answer questions through this site.
Take
Care of Your Share™ - Making the Solution a
Little More Convenient
Similar to Project Backyard Brevard but was
created as national website and covers many more
forms of environmental stewardship. Goal is to provide
solutions so that every citizen can learn the correct
way to Take Care of Their Share™ of the environment.
I am also trying to convince every state government
to create their own Take Care of Your Share website
to educate their citizens with state specific information.
